The culture of excellence requires the culture of enthusiasm in learning

January 5, 2024

The moral duty to say. We want to promote excellence in classes of 100 students or more. It is complicated !

A term average of 12 at Nzeng-Ayong high school and a 12/20 at Immaculée, Mandela or even in an establishment lacking teachers, it’s not the same!

Very complicated !

This measure should have waited if the budget line is not what was expected or hoped for. There, the CTRI lacked creative imagination in the midst of an exceptional period. This decision could await an elective mandate. The students were hopeful. Others dreamed. Many of them are disappointed today when we should be giving them confidence and hope…

I am not against the culture of excellence, surpassing or self-affirmation. However, there are prerequisites. To this end, I think that we need to come back to the conditions for granting grants during the National Consultation. Return to the objectives sought and to be achieved in our education system. Carefully review these conditions of attribution based on reality or the reality of the moment, taking into account the school environment, traditional teaching, learner results and what the world demands of us…

What I propose.

That the CTRI relaunch sports and cultural competitions and that the school programs be reorganized or revisited so that the lessons are stuck to the context, that they are joyful, motivating, inspiring, exciting. Another educational approach for all teaching, a sort of game pedagogy which would produce a range of emotions (pleasure, creativity, imagination, satisfaction, stimulation, etc.) and would boost learners by giving them more of a taste for learning. .. If we want them to be excellent, good free citizens, thoughtful, critical, autonomous and concerned about living together, I think we must move away from traditional education.

Education and training through games will therefore lead teachers to vary their teaching approaches and to get students moving more, to awaken them as much as possible by developing in them competence, self-confidence, effort, surpassing their limits. self, self-sacrifice and excellence…

However, here, we are asking them for excellence without offering them anything that is innovative.

And even there, what I have just proposed requires the creation of groups, work in workshops, innovative practical exercises, sports facilities, classrooms set up in establishments and having teachers trained in pedagogy through games , the playful.

Some will tell me here that I’m dreaming! But it’s possible. Michaël Ferrari said “When learning is fun, the future becomes bright››. In Philosophy for example, learning and playful pedagogy would aim at the autonomy of the learner by making him an actor in his learning, at the same time a relaxed and stimulated being who tests theories, develops his skills, experiments them, explore them… In short. I am working to demonstrate this in personal research work.

We cannot talk about excellence in education and learning without prerequisites, it makes no sense.

But OK ! There is so much to do in education and the expectations are enormous.

My opinion.
