Arisu went to Ukraine last year, so he already has a lot of experience from the war. A year ago he moved in the legion and with ten other fighters from the 92nd brigade. The command entrusted them with an important task – to get to the railway north of Novoselivsk, hold the position and wait for the infantry. If it didn’t work out, they should at least draw attention to themselves so that the infantry could “dig in” behind them.

“The entire action was preceded by a nighttime fire preparation concentrated in a roughly 200-meter-long section of the garrison in front of the railway spur, from which the Russians had not yet withdrawn,” describes Cech on the platform X (formerly twitter). A group of twenty men set out for the event early in the morning. “The landing site that the BTR brought us to was about five kilometers from the railway spur,” napsal Arisu.

The soldiers were marching along a field road, the garrison on the left, the sunflower field on the other. It was no man’s land. Crossing the entire area was also very challenging. The last roughly 200 meters before the railway spur were still held by Russian soldiers. “The sapper went first, followed by the pointman, followed by the gunner, the machine gunner and the rest, after 200 meters of rotation,” tells about a year-old operation in the Czech Republic.

First the drone, then the missiles

After two hours, a drone and an unmanned Orlan reconnaissance aircraft began to fly over the soldiers. They had to quickly hide and wait for the drone to fly away or run out of battery. “A little while after we got up, we were fired upon by a hail of bullets. The rockets landed to the right of us, calm down, we’re moving on,” describes rough moments. This was followed by the “cleaning” of the territory, especially from min.

Hell on earth

According to Aris, the inferno began about half a kilometer from the destination. “Drones started hovering over us non-stop and we came under heavy fire,” he wrote The Russians fired at them with rockets, artillery, mortars and tanks. “The order from staff was to wait in place and take cover in the garrison until the infantry dug in behind us. Almost continuous fire lasted almost 3 hours. 3 hours when you can’t do” he wrote

Colleagues die

One of his friends, Míša, a volunteer from Georgia, died during the fire. A few hours later came the order to withdraw. However, the equipment could not reach them, so they had to walk about 2.5 kilometers with the injured. “To make matters worse, a helicopter fired a volley of unguided rockets at us the last 500 meters or so before the pick-up point,” he added, saying that such a method was very imprecise, and fortunately the salvo landed far behind them.

Finally they reached a car that took them away. At the base, they honored the memory of the deceased colleague, the rest of the wounded continued to receive treatment. They got a day off and then got back into action.
