Czech football players refused to play the 2022 World Cup play-off against the Russian team due to the situation between Ukraine and Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Football Association of the Czech Republic.

“In the current situation, it is impossible to play against the Russian team,” the message says.

The meeting between the football teams of Russia and Poland is scheduled for March 24. The favorite of this match should play with the winner of the Sweden-Czech Republic pair for access to the 2022 World Cup.

Earlier, the national teams of Poland and Sweden also refused to play the 2022 World Cup play-offs against the Russian team.

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine to protect civilians from the recognized republics of the DPR and LPR from the encroachments of Ukrainian militants. Its main goal is the denazification and demilitarization of the country.
