The “Dancing with the Stars” finale was an event with an expected end from another TV era

Due Diligence: The writer of these lines does not know how to dance. I do not dance when I am sad, and frankly, I do not dance when I am happy. Years of embarrassment and social anxieties did their thing, and let’s say that my bar mitzvah also had to drag me to make some incredibly awkward movements, as the camera crew that accompanied the event can attest (and I very much hope the tape will be destroyed soon). Thus, I might be a bit of a weird candidate to talk about the finale of “Dancing with the Stars,” but to sit on a couch and watch TV you don’t have to know how to dance.

The finale of “Dancing with the Stars” offered something that was almost out of the shelves – a golden show and completely over the top. Ten years have passed since the previous season of the show, which not only took place in a different franchise, but also in a completely different world. A world where television was not completely conquered by reality and an era in which even such a grandiose production could have survived. Still, there is something terribly sweet about this product even after a decade in which it is absent from the screens. Tzafir, the director of this season, is a man who knows how to pick up great productions from life – and in that sense, he has found his own gender. And as in the meticulous reality shows that Tzafir has produced in the past, And the annoying Maayan Adam.

Each of them sits on a very central theme in the history of Israeli reality. Shtilov, for example, is the classic “production favorite,” the man who got tenths from the judges from the first dance to the final, the one who hasn’t lost a single point all season! And I will not hear Haiter, that Tilov is one of the greatest Olympic athletes in the history of Israel and one that made me think twice about watching my sexual orientation (and this is another show presented by Lucy Job, just saying). – Even if not an artistic gymnast – for a dance competition. It’s a bit like sending a footballer to a cannon kick competition. The first, even though the production tried as hard as it could to create the illusion of a struggle.

Maayan Adam was marked as the underdog. The one who from the beginning was not supposed to be in the final, who snatched insults from Uncle Dvir and was even injured on the morning of the final. The one that goes through a process, and from moment to moment is built as the Cinderella. Until it finished in third place. Adi Ashkenazi, who was my personal favorite, arrived in the role of the comedian pause – who came with a slightly cynical look, befitting a veteran comedian, and who watched the format a bit from the side, but soon fell captive and fell in love with the dances. Their musical choices in the first dance also reinforced the obvious themes – Adam came up with Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” (did we already say underdog?), That Tilov chose to go something much more classic with “Feeling Good” performed by Muse and Ashkenazi came up with the twist The narrative and performance of Stroma’s “Formidable” (Kelly-sh-ah).

“Dancing with the Stars” is built a bit on the stick of the Eurovision, speaking of Lucy Job – an event on the border between entertainment per se and competitive sports. And like at Eurovision, here too there were some weird link sections. From the dancers Liran Danino (with the regular feature of a final made by “Keshet” – the moving clip) and Rotem Cohen who came to sing (and a half to dance), to the chance of judges Rona Lee Shimon and Anna Aronov to dance as well (which, as is well known, they did not Never before). It felt like just an opportunity to get more compliments from the judges, and it was very strange. And that’s even before we talked about the actor Moshe Ashkenazi, who made a pretty stupid gesture to Will Smith with an attempt to give Alex Shtilov a nod (yes, Moshe’s cool idea, to subdue the strongest man in the hall except for the guards at the entrance).

In fact, in the second round of the finals, there was something terribly liberating – the fact that the contestants could do what they wanted took away all the defenses I came with. Maayan Adam rioted with “It’s Raining Men” (why did we all get used to Jerry Halliwell’s version?), Which Tilov came up with “World Champion” (what a surprise!) And Adi Ashkenazi, who opened my heart completely with half a performance and half a stand-up, In what was supposed to give her a win, even if only thanks to the originality. But life is less than ideal. We ended up getting a pretty impressive event that ended with a predictable outcome, and Shtilov took the title that was in his hands in advance. At least I danced a little along the way. G. Tomert, not really. Okay, maybe a little. Really no one saw. I think.
