As part of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Qatar, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan from February 21 to 24, a series of events were held in the capital Doha with the participation of prominent members of the public and cultural figures, the press service of the department told Day.Az. The book exhibition “Culture of Azerbaijan with Ancient Roots” opened at the National Library of Qatar, the presentation of the book “The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami”, translated into Arabic by the outstanding orientalist academician Yevgeny Bertels, took place, and the evening “Muhammad Fuzuli – poet of three languages” took place. .

The Secretary of State of Qatar, President of the National Library of Qatar Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari and the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli emphasized the high level of cooperation between the countries, describing the holding of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Qatar as a significant event.

It was noted that this year Azerbaijan is celebrating the 530th anniversary of the Azerbaijani classic Muhammad Fizuli. The great poet and philosopher wrote his works in Azerbaijani, Arabic and Persian, and holding the 530th anniversary of Muhammad Fizuli for the first time outside Azerbaijan in Qatar has great symbolic significance.

Director of the Azerbaijan National Library, Professor Kerim Tairov provided information on cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries, noting the importance of further fruitful cooperation. It was noted that Nizami Ganjavi, who lived and worked in the 12th century, is one of the unique geniuses that the Azerbaijani people gave to world culture. The book “The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami” has been translated into several languages. The translation of this fundamental scientific work, written in 1940, into Arabic will contribute to a closer acquaintance of the entire Arab world with the invaluable heritage of the great poet and thinker.

Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union Ilgar Fakhmi spoke about the ideological and artistic features of the work of Muhammad Fuzuli and his influence on literary thought in the Turkic-Islamic world.

The guests were shown a video about the life and work of Muhammad Fizuli. The concert program included a performance by a mugham trio, and dishes of Azerbaijani national cuisine were presented.

The evening was attended by the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan and Qatar Adil Karimli and Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Qatar Mahir Aliyev, representatives of the public and the diaspora.
