by time news

The top members of the defense establishment for generations have called for the establishment of a committee of inquiry into the submarine affair: Dozens of former senior members of the defense establishment, including chiefs of staff, retired Mossad and GSS officials and many generals, demonstrated this evening (Saturday) near Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s house, demanding the immediate establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the submarine and vessel affair.

The demonstration comes against the background of reports that although Foreign Minister Lapid and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz announced yesterday that the committee will be established tomorrow – it seems that the proposal will not be approved by the government tomorrow.

Dozens of senior officials issued a clear and joint call to members of the government: “Immediately discuss the decision-makers’ proposal that was placed on the government table more than two months ago to establish a state commission of inquiry into the submarine and vessel affair.”

The Movement for the Quality of Government and the Security Forum stated: “The delay in discussing the decision-makers’ proposal is not extremely reasonable, especially when the national security of the State of Israel is at stake.”

“We demand to know – who has a reason to dissolve the investigation of the truth in what appears to be the most serious security corruption case in the history of the State of Israel. The cloud of corruption that lies over the Holy of Holies of the State of Israel must be removed.

Former Defense Minister Moshe (Boogie) Ya’alon Nam referred to the fact that Netanyahu was never questioned in the affair: “Mandelblit has lost his moral backbone and his professional integrity.”

Former Chief of Staff Lt. Col. (Res.) Dan Halutz also spoke: “Whoever has nothing to hide should be the first to support the establishment of a state commission of inquiry.
The things we will not examine today will become the precedent of tomorrow. We will continue until the committee is established. ”
