“The development of housing must take place well before the age of 84”: what MaPrimeAdapt’ will change

France is aging. And it’s accelerating. Between 2020 and 2030, the number of people aged 75 to 84 will increase by 50% to 6.1 million people. And for the following decade, therefore, it is those over 84 whose number will skyrocket. But while 92% of French people express the wish to age in place, according to a Harris Interactive survey from November 2022 for the Cetelem Observatory, housing must adapt to the loss of autonomy.

This is the whole challenge of MaPrimeAdapt’, the new government system to assist in reorganizing the homes of elderly people, which comes into force on January 1, 2024. This cousin of MaPrimeRénov’ replaces, and therefore simplifies, three devices that coexisted: easy living from the National Housing Agency (Anah), aid from the Cnav and the autonomy tax credit.
