Assoc. Edita Kazėnaitė has worked at VUL Santaras clinics since 1997. Since 2011 worked as deputy director for management for pharmaceuticals and public health, since 2021 – Head of the Department of Biomedical Research, and from 2021 – In the guide of the center of hepatology, gastroenterology and dietology. in 2003 defended his doctoral thesis. The assistant professor was an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases and chronic viral hepatitis B and C in Lithuania and the Baltic States.

She has published dozens of scientific publications in publications referred to in international databases and in other peer-reviewed periodical and continuous publications of prestigious Lithuanian medical science, read reports at scientific conferences, and was the author of scientific reports theses at medical congresses. He paid a lot of attention to educational literature: published 2 original books, prepared 2 educational books, 1 textbook (with co-authors). Actively participated in scientific research and experimental development (R&D) activities recognized by the Lithuanian Science Council: managed more than 40 biomedical research projects. In 2012, together with a team of researchers and coordinators, for the first time in Lithuania, Ib clinical trial of drugs was conducted (indication of chronic viral hepatitis C, principal investigator), and in 2018 for the first time in Lithuania, and Phase I drug bioequivalence study with healthy volunteers.

Assoc. Edita Kazėnaitė’s areas of professional interest included rational pharmacotherapy of infectious and non-infectious diseases, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gluten enteropathy and other diseases of the small and large intestine, liver diseases, nutritional deficiency.

The assistant professor was an active member of various organizations and societies in Lithuania and the world: United European and World Organizations of Gastroenterologists, European Society of Microbiologists and Infectious Diseases, Lithuanian Society of Clinical Pharmacology, Group of Pharmacists, Nordic Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, American and European Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, European Crohn’s and Colitis Organizations. From 2018 until 2022 was the vice-president of the Lithuanian Society of Gastroenterologists, and from 2023 November – responsible secretary of the same society.

Her merits were evaluated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania: in 2022 awarded the title of Meritorious Health Protection Worker of Lithuania and in the same year she was awarded the honorary badge of the Meritorious Health Protection Worker of Lithuania.
