The truck that two afternoons ago took the A5 motorway in the wrong direction could have caused a very serious accident, covering about a kilometer while cars, trucks and vans whizzed in the other direction a few centimeters from it. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences thanks to the timely intervention of a car from the Aosta traffic police, who promptly intercepted the driver forcing him to pull over: the man explained to the agents that he was headed to France but that he had made the wrong exit once. arrived at the Aosta junction. He should have continued to Mont Blanc and when he realized the mistake he had no problems making the maneuver, then U-turn and finally going back along a kilometer in the wrong direction.
If the truck driver was not promptly stopped by the police, the next maneuver that he would have done would have been even more dangerous: he would have had to reverse again on the highway to take the right direction, that is towards Mont Blanc. The Sav, the company that manages the motorway, saw the truck from the video cameras, alerted the Turin motorway operations center and the traffic police patrols intercepted the driver and stopped him before he continued his journey. Now the truck has been placed under administrative seizure. The driver was fined with a fine that can reach over eight thousand euros and his license was obviously withdrawn. Had he not been promptly stopped he could have caused a very serious accident.
