The Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia will apply to the EAEU Business Council, offering to discuss and contribute to changing the order of transit customs declarations for transport cargo from the territory of the Union to Armenia. Such a decision was made at the meeting of the Presidency of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences held on November 12.

The problem is due to the special status of the Republic of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic Union, the absence of a common border. Currently, customs declarations are drawn up on the border of Russia and Georgia, in Upper Lars, in which case complications arise in the processes of truck inspection, implementation of customs formalities, prevention of smuggling, the throughput of the customs office slows down, long queues accumulate. The CAA suggests that the customs formalization and clearance of the goods coming to Armenia be carried out by the territorial customs services of the shipper, which will allow the trucks to pass the control point of Upper Lars through the “green lane”.

According to the head of the Armenian Customs Union, Arsen Ghazaryan, the organization of cargo transportation in this order will make the work of customs services more transparent, will increase the effectiveness of the control of their volume and quality during the loading of goods, will provide an opportunity to monitor the average price level of customs goods coming to Armenia, and will balance the financial resources entering the budget of the member states of the Union.

By the way, cargo transportation of goods from Armenia to EAEU member countries is carried out in the recommended order.

The issue of the monthly meeting-discussions between the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia and the RA Ministry of Finance was also on the agenda of the presidency session. The meetings in this format, in which, in addition to RA Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan, the minister of the relevant field of the discussed issue, also participate deputy ministers, heads of divisions, issues raised by the members of the National Council of Ministers of Ukraine, as current and requiring certain regulation, are examined. In similar meetings held so far, issues related to economic development strategy and the steps resulting from it, investment promotion, efficient and transparent organization of state purchases, the concept of comprehensive health insurance, state-business cooperation mechanisms, and many other issues were discussed. In relation to them, the businessmen also presented their views on solving the problems, which were taken into consideration by the relevant departments. It was noted on both sides that the works in this format are quite effective, and an effective platform for public-private sector cooperation has been created.

The president of the union, Arsen Ghazaryan, urged the members of the AGM to regularly present the economic problems of general interest in their fields, to propose their practical solutions, and to involve the specialists and experts of the companies in these works.
