The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has established duty-free import quotas for certain types of cattle meat, which will be used for the production of meat products.

“The EEC Council has decided to grant tariff privileges in the form of exemption from customs duties for the import of certain types of meat intended for the production of meat products,” the EEC message states.

Thus, in 2024, the mentioned products will be imported in the following volume: for Armenia – up to 8.5 tons, for Belarus – up to 7.5 tons, for Kazakhstan – up to 5 tons, for Kyrgyzstan – up to 3.5 tons, for Russia – up to 100,000 tons.

According to the EEC clarification, the measure is aimed at filling the shortage of raw meat in the EAEU internal market, developing the production of ready-made meat and sausages by processing enterprises, reducing the cost of products, and curbing the inflation of finished products in the EAEU countries.
