The Porsche Macan has quickly become Porsche’s flagship in terms of global sales. And everything indicates that this legacy will be kept safe with the future that awaits it, because the new 100% electric Porsche Macan will soon hit the market to offer the same sportiness with heart-stopping performance in a zero-emissions format.
This new Macan EV will coexist in the range with its combustion brothers and, although its name may make us think that we are simply talking about a Macan converted to electric, the truth is that it will have many technological and technical innovations.
Among them, the PPE platform (Premium Platform Electric) developed together with Audi stands out, which will serve as its basis.
Aesthetically, no major changes are expected with respect to what we already know in a gasoline Macan. Perhaps the most notable thing is the arrangement of the front lights, divided into two with the main module at the bottom and the daytime running lights located above them.
Inside, the three screens that debut both the new generation Panamera and the updated Cayenne will still be present and, yes, optimized software to calculate charging routes instantly and to improve the user experience behind the wheel.
Three initial versions
Some data regarding the features and dynamic performance of the Macan EV still need to be confirmed, but we do know that, at least upon its arrival scheduled for 2024, three versions will be available (Macan, Macan 4S and Macan Turbo) with more than 600 HP of power and 1,000 Nm of torque in the case of the top of the range.
They will all share the same 100 kWh capacity battery. There are still no official figures that show their autonomy; What is clear is that they will use an 800 volt network to charge at a maximum of 270 kW of power in DC and 11 kW in AC.
As for the chassis, after a brief co-drive on board the test mules on the asphalt of the Leipzig circuit, we can confirm that it will be a Porsche with capital letters. As the Taycan demonstrated in its day, everything the German brand launches far exceeds even the highest expectations that any Porsche fan may have.
