Alaska Airlines suspended the flights of dozens of Boeing 737 MAX 9 liners after a dangerous incident that occurred on January 5 on a Portland-Ontario (California) flight. As Reuters reports, the emergency exit door broke off from the plane, which was at an altitude of almost 5 kilometers.

As a result of the incident, none of the 171 passengers and six crew members were injured. The plane managed to land successfully in Portland, Oregon, 35 minutes after takeoff.

“Although such incidents are rare, the crew of our aircraft was trained and prepared for safety measures in such a situation,” Alaska Airlines said. The management of the airline reported that 65 similar aircraft will be returned to service only after preventive maintenance and safety checks.
