The Eurasian Economic Union countries hold their annual summit

Yesterday, Wednesday, the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries held the union’s annual summit in the Kremlin, under the chairmanship of Armenia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said, during the summit, that “the size of the economy of the Eurasian Union countries has increased over the past ten years from $1.6 trillion to $2.5 trillion.”

Putin added: “The volume of trade between the Eurasian Union and other countries of the world increased by 60%, from 579 to 923 billion dollars.”

The Russian President pointed out that “90% of payments in the Union are made in national currencies,” stressing that “the Union has proven itself as an integrated, dynamic and self-sufficient entity.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised “the tangible results of the plans to create a favorable investment climate in the Eurasian Economic Union region,” adding: “This was achieved thanks to the collective decisions that were taken to protect investments and support businesses.” He also pointed out that “the Eurasian Union has demonstrated its resilience in the face of… Penalties”.

In turn, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, “One of the most important directions of the Eurasian Economic Union is to enhance food security in the world, especially since the Union is capable of providing food for 600 million people.”

“Our strategic vision is to transform the agricultural sector into a high-tech industry, and to achieve this, it is extremely important to take coordinated measures,” Tokayev said during the summit.

He pointed out that “the technical leap based on artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and agricultural sciences serves the goals of the Union.”

It is noteworthy that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is one of the largest economic blocs that enjoys the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor. It is an international economic association for integration that has been operating since January 1, 2015, and its participants are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
