The Aegean Forum-Kos 2024, a co-organization of the Union of Young Self-Governing Greece (ENA) and the Municipality of Kos, was concluded with great success at noon on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the event hall of the Marina of Kos, packed with people, which was a reliable forum for dialogue and exchange of views, focusing on key issues that concern island Greece and in particular the undeveloped islands of the South Aegean.
This year, the theme of the Forum focused on “Maritime Tourism and the Blue Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for the South Aegean”, with the aim of in-depth investigation of the multiple aspects affecting this vital sector for the Greek economy.
The aim of the Aegean Forum-Kos 2024 conference was to bring key stakeholders from the public and private sectors into dialogue, with the aim of exchanging ideas and good practices for the development of maritime tourism and the blue economy in the S. Aegean region
The keynote speaker was Ioannis Pappas, Deputy Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese who spoke about the industry’s prospects for the entire Dodecanese and the local development brought about by the blue economy, Dimitris Tsiodras, Journalist, MEP Candidate, Director of the Prime Minister’s Press Office referred to the importance of marine tourism for the Greek economy, Stavros Katsikadis, President of the Hellenic Marine Association (EMAE) and CEO of Lamda Marinas Investments, referred to the marinas of Greece and their prospects, as well as their international distinction, while Antonis Drossos, General Manager of Kos Marina spoke about the contribution of the Kos marina to the local economy.
Greetings were given by Theodosis Nikitaras, Mayor of Kos, Konstantina Svynou, Prefect of Kos-Nisyros, Yannis Kallergis, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Marinas Kos, Nektarios Kalantzis, President of the Union of Young Self-Governing Greeks (ENA) and Matina Voukelatou Christodoulidis, Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Kos and Member of ENA.
The event was coordinated by Kos TV journalist Kleopatra Misailidou.
Among others, a number of self-governing officials, representatives of the local church, the Brigadier General of Kos, the president of the Kos Medical Association and PASOK politician Katerina Gavala, EYDAP Board Member and ND politician Antonis Giannikouris, the educator and ND politician Katerina Emmanouil, the president of the Board of Directors of Kos and Member of ENA Dionysia Tellis and from Kalymnos the Deputy Mayors of Tourism Kalliopi Koutouzis and Culture Valandoula Kanavouris attended.
The event was supported by the Kos Marina, the Kos Divine hotel group and Mr. Nikos Pouliou, as well as the Gaia Garden Hotel Kos hotel group and Ms. Matina Boukelatos Christodoulidis.
