The Russian cultural, educational and social center Istok in Frankfurt am Main Frankfurt am Main sets itself the task of preserving the Russian language and culture of multinational Russia abroad.

A good tradition at the ISTOK weekend school has become the annual Poetry Festival, in which all schoolchildren of grades 1-9 take part. This poetic holiday takes place in February, the children and teachers prepare for it for a month, selecting and memorizing poems by different poets, on various topics, with different content.

Cheerful and lyrical poetic lines about family and school, about friendship and love, about nature and people, about peace and war, about goodness and justice, and, of course, about Russia are heard at the Festival.

Young readers win the hearts of listeners with sincerity, expressiveness and excellent Russian language. Poetry, being “the highest form of existence of language”, “music of words”, “inner fire of every talent”, inspires and inspires all participants of the Festival, revealing to them the beauty, melodiousness and richness of the Russian language.
