Chennai: Popular actor Mylaswamy passed away due to a heart attack. He was 57 years old. Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, Actors’ Union President Nassar, Treasurer Karthi, film industry, numerous fans and public paid tribute to the body of Mylaswamy.

Actor Mylaswamy, who lived with his family in Saligramam, Chennai, went to the Meghnadeswarar temple near Kelambakkam, Chennai, yesterday night ahead of Sivaratri. Drums Sivamani’s concert took place there. Mylaswamy, who participated in this, returned home from the temple at 3 am yesterday. At 3.30 am he suddenly had chest pain. They immediately took him to a private hospital in Borur. The doctors who examined him said that he was already dead.

Subsequently, his body was brought home and kept for public tribute. Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Actors Association President Nasser, Treasurer Karthi, Actors Radharavi, Pandiyarajan, Suri, Jayaram, Siddharth, Manophala, Kowai Sarala, Senthil, MS Bhaskar, Drums Sivamani and many fans paid tribute to his body. The funeral will take place this morning.

Late Mylaswamy is survived by wife Geetha, sons Yuvan and Anbu. Both are acting in movies.

Hailing from Sathyamangalam in Erode District, Mailsamy came to Chennai at an early age to act in films. He made his debut as an actor in the year 1984 with the film ‘Davani Kanaam’. Subsequently, he acted in small roles in many films including ‘Kannirasi’, ‘En Thangachi Padichava’, Kamal’s ‘Apoorva Brothers’, ‘Vetrivizha’, Rajinikanth’s ‘Panakkaran’, ‘Uzhappali’. He has acted in more than 200 films.

She has acted in the films of leading actors including Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Dhanush. After the year 2000, the characters played by him were much talked about among the fans. His comedy scenes with Vadivelu, Vivek and others were well received.

In the film ‘Pennin Mana Thottu’, he changed Sri Lankan Tamil to a Chennai case, and in the film ‘Palayathu Amman’, he played the role of a dance preacher with Vivek.

Recently the movie ‘Udanpal’ was released starring Mylaswamy. He has recently acted in the film ‘Classmates’. He has also hosted the small screen show ‘Comedy Time’.

Mailsamy contested as an independent candidate in Virukambakkam assembly constituency in 2021 and lost. Mailsamy has already undergone 2 heart surgeries. The 2nd surgery took place at the end of last November.
