On Sunday, April 7, it became known that the Finnish government voted to ban the supply of weapons to Israel. This decision was taken as a protest against the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip, aimed at destroying the terrorist group Hamas.
The Voice of Israel writes about this.
It is noted that Israel is not currently purchasing any weapons from Finland. At the same time, Helsinki signed a contract on November 12 for the supply of Israeli David’s Sling air defense systems. The deal is valued at 317 million euros. The fate of this contract is currently unknown.
The David’s Sling system was created by Rafael. It is designed to defeat air targets at a distance of 40 to 300 kilometers. Israel put it into operation in 2017. The complex performed well in repelling missile attacks.
Finland opposes the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip, accusing Israel of “deliberately” endangering the lives of civilians. At the same time, Helsinki ignores Jerusalem’s right to self-defense from terrorist threats.
Earlier, Kursor wrote that Israel and Finland agreed to supply David’s Sling air defense systems. The Israeli company Rafael called this deal “historic.”
