The first session of the Subcommittee on Geographical Indications operating within the framework of the Republic of Armenia – European Union Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement was held in Brussels. The RA delegation led by RA Deputy Economy Minister Naira Margaryan participated in the meeting.
During the session, the parties presented the latest developments within the framework of geographical indications legislation and relevant policies. Issues related to the implementation of the provisions stipulated in Articles 230-240 of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement and the agreements reached were presented and discussed.
The processes related to the protection of “champagne” and “brandy” trademarks and the future work planned in that direction were also discussed, as well as other issues related to bilateral cooperation regarding geographical indications and place names of origin.
During the session, the parties adopted the Rules of Procedure of the Subcommittee on Geographical Indications and formulated bilateral points of inquiry.
