/ The management of the Al-Talaba Club confirmed, on Sunday, that the punishment imposed on the club had been lifted by an official letter from the Iraqi Football Association.

The Union’s penalty stipulates that students be banned from signing contracts with players between the winter transfers due to a complaint filed by players against previous administrations for not paying their dues.

Club Secretary Riyad Mezher told Agency: “The penalty was lifted in an official letter from the Federation. As for the new contracts, we have not yet signed any player to include him in the Al-Talaba team during the current winter transfers.”

He stated, “The current management of the Al-Talaba Club succeeded in agreeing with the Iraqi Football Association to lift the penalty previously imposed on our football team, which stipulated banning contracts for one transitional period.”

He pointed out that “the club management, in agreement with the technical staff of the Al-Talaba football team, will approach players whom it sees serving the team in the upcoming rounds of the Iraq Stars League competitions, to include them in the team during the winter transfer period.”

Al-Talaba occupies ninth place after the end of the 12th round of the Iraq Stars League with 17 points.
