Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian had a telephone conversation with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, during which the parties discussed the attack inflicted by the Islamic Republic on Israeli territory. This is stated in a statement published on the Telegram channel of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
According to the text, in the conversation Abdollahian explained that when carrying out the operation, Iran set as its goal “to warn <...> [Израиль] about the consequences of crossing red lines.” Tehran, according to the minister, “carried out a minimal and precise operation directed against Israeli military facilities” from which the attack on the consular department of the Islamic Republic embassy in Damascus was carried out. The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry also expressed the hope that “German efforts will be aimed at ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip” and establishing security in the Middle East, and “not at condemning Iran’s legitimate actions.”
On the evening of April 13, Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel, calling it a response to “numerous crimes,” including an attack attributed to Israel on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus. Iranian state media said the attacks on Israel targeted military targets. The Israel Defense Forces indicated that they intercepted 99% of about 350 Iranian shells flying towards the Jewish state, and minor damage was caused to the Nevatim airbase. No deaths or serious injuries were reported in Israel.
