Dynamo Moscow management will present coach Marcelo Liček with a new contract. A member of the club’s board of directors, Sergej Stepashin, told the Russian media.

The Czech coach came to Dynamo last summer from Orenburg, from where the Moscow team bought him out.

Lička has been active in Russia since 2020 and remains in the league there despite the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine.

“He’s a good coach, of course we have to make him an offer,” said Stepašin, who was briefly prime minister of Russia in 1999.

“It will be clear after the season,” he said.

Dynamo is fighting for the title under the leadership of Ličkov, and is third in the league table. However, it lost the last two competitive matches.

After a recent defeat to league leader Zenit St. Petersburg in the Russian Cup, Rostov lost 1:4 at home in the league on Friday. It was only the third time it failed in the top competition and the first time since September.

Lička said after Friday’s match that he is not thinking about extending his contract with Dynamo yet.

“I’m only thinking about how to achieve success with the team. We’ll see what happens in the summer,” he said.

He signed a one-year contract with an option last year. He did not want to reveal the conditions under which the contract will be automatically extended.
