MADRID, 2 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Freedom Flotilla has attributed the “blockade” that prevents its ships from leaving Turkey for the Gaza Strip to political movements in Israel, although it has underlined its “commitment” to undertake this mission and bring humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave. .

“It is not admissible for Israel to assume the right to determine to what extent, when and by what means the citizens of the world relate to Palestine, to Gaza,” lamented the NGO Rumbo a Gaza, a collaborator of a fleet that is waiting with 5,500 tons of aid in the port of Istanbul.

According to the organizers, a “dark tactic” by Israel prevented the departure of the flotilla on April 25, even though all the communication had already been presented. Specifically, they have denounced “pressure” on Guinea-Bissau to withdraw its flag from the ‘Akdeniz’, which led to a new inspection of the flagship of this project.

“It is another example of how Israel obstructs the delivery of vital aid to the population of Gaza, which faces a deliberately created famine, used as a weapon of war,” they denounced, in a note in which they also wonder “how many children and more girls will die of malnutrition and dehydration because of this delay and a continuing siege that must be broken.”

The organizers are working “diligently” to overcome the obstacles and now trust that the ‘Akdeniz’ will pass the inspections “if there is no new political interference”, although in their note they avoid setting a new date for the potential departure. Due to successive delays, politicians who supported the Flotilla such as the former mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau, the Podemos deputy in Congress Martina Velarde and the leader of the commons Jaume Asens returned to Spain last week.
