Irene Caamaño Perez, born in Figueres 34 years ago, is one of the DJs of the moment. Not only at the county level, but at the provincial level. It is known as Ryna DJ and this summer is hitting the roof in festivals and major holidays. Punch on top of the stage Ithaca Festivalin l’Estartit, din front of more than 2,000 spectators, it was his peak. He did it after the concert by Madrid’s Vetusta Morla, a reference Spanish indie rock group.
Ryna is an eclectic DJ who mixes different musical styles: drum and bass, techno, 80’s, underground, pop, indie, rock… She defines herself as the petardónika, a new concept that was suggested to him one night that pricked the Yeah from Girona. “They asked me what style of music I liked. I didn’t have it defined; I explained that I mixedto firecrackers and electronics». From the contraction of these two names came the expression: “It defines me. I really like electronica, I look for covers with this base and break the pum pum pum with well-known songs, such as Raffaella Carrà or Boney M». In their sessions, they never fail songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen, covered by Claudinho Brasil & Harmonika under the title Mamma Mia; Poison, by Rodrigo Cuevas; or Without Me, by Eminem. “I dedicate myself to remixing remixes by other artists. I’m still in the growth phase, everything has gone very fast and I haven’t been able to get into my own production, even though I’d really like to,” he confesses.
The beginnings at Xiringuito X
His sessions are improvised: “I don’t prepare them, it’s not the same as sipping a vermouth at 4 in the morning. I have 2-3 tracks to start and to connect with the space, and then I increase the BPM (speed of the song) according to the audience’s desire to dance». To connect with the viewer, he now usually starts with Dans cent ans, by Flavien Berger.
Ryna began to be interested in this world when fat seven years vto touch for the first time the controller (the plates) at Xiringuito X, from Rubina beachby the resident DJ LionANt (Andreu), his first teacher.

After a stalemate at the head of the bar of La Cate, from Figuereswhere he already put songs in l’Spotify i programmed concerts, went back into it. It was tested on the same Yeah, at the SPK, in Sant Pere Pescador, and at Can Mallarenga, in l’Escala, until he saw that he could dedicate himself to it, now about two or three years ago. “The turning point was last year after being in the Bisbal and Girona barracks. From these two bowls I noticed the feedback”, he confesses.
Of the Ítaca Festival, last June, he remembers that “it was very strong. I was nervous because it was the biggest bolo I was going to do. Everyone surrendered and it turned out very well.” Two more sessions are recorded in his memory: the one of the huts of bathrooms two years ago, “because it was the first time you could be without a mask” alreadyl Flowers and Violets, from Palafrugell. Now, she is self-taught and explains that “at home, it’s hard for me to practice, I get bored. I need the audience’s feedback to punch, since my goal is to make them dance».
To the Bewis de La Rosa team

“It’s no longer surprising to see a DJ on stage, especially in the world of the electronics. Maybe there are few who are on major holidays. But in general, in the world of music, there are more and more female references”. Ryna sets her sights on German techno dj Stella Bossi. His stage name comes from his teenage years and following the manga series Reena i Gaudy (Slayers). Years ago she was involved in the world of communication. Now, as a DJ, “I’m making a living at it”, he admits. Currently, he combines this by being a member of the professional team of the multidisciplinary Madrid artist Bewis de La Rosa, with whom he had collaborated in the musical cycle 66 Butaques, in Figueres.
The FIB and the philosophy of Acoustics
He’s had a full schedule since June and won’t stop until at least the fall, with bowling every weekend. He has even done doubles. On July 1 he performed at the the centenary party of the Padrosa Group, in Llers, and the Barretina Rural Fest, in Siurana. “It was 12 hours between when I started and when I finished, but I didn’t punch them all in a row.” He had managed to make triplets in the same day, but he discards it because “I end up shattered”.
Despite being in full bloom and being from Figueres, nor appears on the Acústica festival poster: “I haven’t been called. I must also say that I am part of the La Figa Association and we do not agree with the philosophy of allocating so much public money to a private company”, he considers. But when asked, where do you dream of stabbing? “At the Benicassim International Festival, the FIB. I want to continue exploring, I would also like to do some electronic session in a club. I will continue to let myself be carried away because now everything is going fantastically well”, concludes the DJ.
