The Georgian Parliament elects a new President with anti-Western positions

This Saturday the Georgian Parliament elected Mikheil Kavelashvili, a former footballer who entered politics and became known for his anti-Western positions, as president of the country. Meanwhile, the demonstrators gathered at the parliament in Tbilisi, the capital, to continue protesting – as has happened in recent weeks – against the party currently in power accused of a pro-Russian turn.
