Last June, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation against the singer of the German metal group Rammstein, Till Lindemann, after several accusations of women who claimed that the musician organized castings for post-concert parties where sexual abuse took place.

“The evaluation of the available evidence (…) and the hearing of the witnesses did not allow to establish that the defendant had non-consensual sexual relations with women”, the institution has published in a statement.

Existing complaints had been submitted by third parties, unrelated to the facts denounced. The public ministry explained in the aforementioned text that “the alleged victims had not addressed the authorities in charge of criminal investigations so far, but only – and this even after the investigation was made public – to journalists who, for their part, availed themselves of their right to refuse to testify«.

“Therefore, there was no possibility of sufficiently substantiating the possible accusations, nor of forming an idea of the credibility of the alleged victims and of the credibility of his statements during the interrogation”, added the prosecution, which also closed the investigation against the manager accused of taking the young women backstage during the concerts.

“I thank all those who waited without prejudice for the end of the investigation,” the Rammstein singer reacted on Instagram, who always denied the facts through his lawyers.

The case began at the end of May with the testimony of a 24-year-old Irish woman who accused the artist and lyricist of the band of having drugged and sexually assaulted after a concert the same month in Lithuania.

Other young women also testified recounting similar events. According to this version, the followers of the group in the first rows of the concerts were filmed or photographed so that they Lindemann could make his choice. Then they were invited to parties.

The allegations led to demonstrations ahead of the band’s concerts in several countries, as well as the cancellation of after-parties in Germany.
