The goons, who were still wandering after the attack, beat him at the bar; Touch Police | Pothencode

Thiruvananthapuram: In the case of the attack on the father and daughter on the road in Pothencode, the police was criticized as a serious negligence. The suspicion that the police were not interested in locating the culprits who were still roaming in Pothencode town after the attack is strengthened. Two hours after attacking a father and daughter from Venjaramoodu, goons attacked a nearby bar, police said. Hours after the incident, the accused were not arrested.

Sheikh Mohammed Shah, 47, and his daughter Naudirsha, 17, a Plus Two student, were attacked by a group of four unidentified assailants at their house in Venjarammoodu Vayyet Idavilakathu. The incident took place at 8.30 pm on Wednesday. The father and daughter were returning home after leaving their wife at work in a private hospital.

It is believed that the attack was due to the inability of the group’s car to move forward in a traffic jam near Pothencode junction. After crossing the car, he allegedly hurled insults at Muhammed Shah, who was inside the car. When he saw his daughter trying to copy it on the phone, he came to the other side and said obscene things, stabbed her in the hair and beat her.

Subsequent incidents testify that the police did not wake up and act despite the opportunity to nab the attacking goons. Police did not go to the bar in Pothencode where the goons regularly visit or search for the culprits. It was only on Thursday morning that police learned that the goons had beaten the bar two hours after the attack.

An inquiry has not been launched as the bar owners did not lodge a complaint. The violence on the second night, which prompted the DGP to conduct night patrols to find the goons, underscores the depth of the police fall. So far, the police have no clue about the culprits.
