Foreign Secretary Masoud Bin Momen said that the government has assured the diplomats about the investigation and prosecution of the casualties that occurred during the anti-discrimination movement.

He told this to reporters at the end of the diplomats’ briefing at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma on Thursday (August 1).

The Ministry of External Affairs organized a briefing for foreign diplomats on the current situation surrounding the quota reform movement. They were briefed at Rashtriya Guest House Padma at 4 pm on Thursday.

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen presented the ongoing situation to the diplomats. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Naeemul Islam Khan was also present at this time.

After the briefing of the diplomats, the foreign secretary told the journalists, “We have shown the latest information and videos to the foreign diplomats about the quota reform movement. As we have reported, RAB did not fire from the helicopter. Apart from this, I have also highlighted the role of BGB and police during the movement. We have provided them with videos.

He said that there is a rumor campaign going on at home and abroad about the movement. So I gave them (diplomats) correct information.

The Foreign Secretary said, we have presented our position in front of the diplomats. We have informed that the Judicial Investigation Commission has started working on the death in the movement. The commission will investigate each incident properly.

In response to a question, the foreign secretary said that foreigners have investments here. The internet was off. They have concerns about these.

In response to a question, Masud bin Momen said that according to the information of the Ministry of Interior, about 150 people have died in the quota reform movement so far. Among them there were 25 students.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Naemul Islam Khan told reporters, “We are ready to talk about everything.” We have shared information with diplomats. We will share it continuously. He also commented that the quota movement has not affected the inter-state relations with any country.

Diplomats of 22 countries including United Kingdom, United States, China, Japan, Sweden, Qatar, Denmark, Switzerland, India, Russia, Canada, Australia, France, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, European Union, United Nations were present in this briefing held on Thursday.
