The Government Council adopts a draft decree setting air quality standards

Rabat – The Government Council, meeting on Thursday, approved a draft decree setting air quality standards and the modalities for setting up monitoring networks.

Presented by the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, the draft decree no. 2.23.244, modifying and supplementing decree no. 2.09.286 of 20 Dhou al-hijja 1430 (December 8, 2009) setting the air quality standards and the arrangements for setting up monitoring networks, aims to add some definitions, update the table in the annex defining the list of pollutants and air quality standards and modify certain provisions relating to the improvement of the governance of the management of the air quality control and surveillance network in Morocco, explained the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas , during a press briefing following the Council.

The Council also decided to postpone to a later date the examination of draft decree no. 2.23.1144 modifying and supplementing decree no. 2.11.344 of 9 Dhou al-qida 1432 (October 7, 2011) relating to the procedures for executing the expenditure of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, added Mr. Baitas.
