Diaspora Minister Amichai Scicli’s decision to increase funding for pro-Israel groups at American universities has sparked unrest and controversy.

Scicli reported this on his page on the social network “X” (Twitter).

The move can be seen in the context of growing tensions and disputes surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which are also reflected on university campuses. The Ministry of Diaspora is increasing funding to Jewish organizations in the United States such as Hillel, Chabad and Olami by 18 million shekels (approximately $5 million) to counter the rise of anti-Semitism.

The Ministry of Diaspora has issued a new call for Jewish groups abroad interested in receiving funding from the Israeli government to combat anti-Semitism on university campuses. According to Minister Scicli, 4 million shekels are at stake, and 10 organizations have already expressed their interest in participating in the competition to receive these funds.

In response to the Diaspora Minister’s interest in the sources of funding for the Palestinian tent protest, Shicley reposted from a “pro-Israel” writer who found some suspicion in the uniformity of tents on the Columbia University campus and opined that this was “not a random protest.”

Earlier, Cursor wrote that the President of Columbia University in New York, Minouche Shafik, issued an ultimatum to the protesting students who set up a tent camp on campus. She insisted on dismantling the camp and warned of the possible consequences.

Many teachers expressed their disagreement with Shafiq’s point of view, expressing strong indignation.
