The budget discussions continue in the joint sessions of the NA standing committees.

Member of the National Assembly “Armenia” faction Artur Khachatryan Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan was asked what is planned regarding the change in the tax legislation and whether it is planned to lower the turnover tax threshold.

Tigran Khachatryan said that today is not the day for the government to talk about the content of any tax policy measure.

“Because they will not be changes in the state budget of 2022 that foresee an increase or decrease in revenues. We do not plan to talk in detail about the changes in the tax policy, which may affect the income of the following periods, accordingly, they may present very significant regulations,” said the minister.

According to him, measures will be developed, which will be presented first to the discussion of the government and then to the National Assembly.

The deputy specified the question: do you not rule out that in 2022 the legislation may come into force, which will lower the sales tax threshold?

“We envisage that all significant issues related to the turnover tax will be subject to content discussion during 2022,” the Minister of Finance said.

He said that when it comes to the turnover tax, it should be remembered that it is the type of taxation that did not aim to establish preferential conditions of taxation for individual types of activity.

“Now, if we reveal and justify that in various sectors of the economy such situations have arisen that the turnover tax has created very significant preferential conditions, then we will propose changing the rates to make the burden of taxation comparable to that which operates under the conditions of the VAT-profit tax and turnover tax regimes. “, the minister mentioned.

He said that if they see that there is a need to revise the turnover tax threshold, they will address that issue as well.

“It is among our upcoming tasks,” added Finance Minister Tigran Khachatryan.
