On June 19, the junta government launched operations to evaluate political parties. The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, MATD, led the operation. On October 28, the MATD announced the dissolution of 53 evaluation parties, and the suspension of another 54, for three months.
The reasons given by the Department of the General for the retirement, Ibrahima Kalil Condé, are “non-compliance” with the conditions to establish a political party. Of the 211 political parties actually listed and invited to collect the evaluation kits from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, some are missing. “These political parties, since they were created, have not participated in an election, they have no leaders, they have no electronic or physical address. Therefore, they do not benefit from any legal life with the authorities,” according to Minister Ibrahima Kalil Condé, who cited Africaguinee.

The Guinean junta government recently initiated a review of political parties, overseen by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MATD). On October 28, 2024, the MATD announced the dissolution of 53 political parties and a three-month suspension of 54 others. The Minister, Ibrahima Kalil Condé, highlighted that these parties had failed to meet the necessary conditions for political party registration, citing issues such as non-participation in elections and lack of identifiable leadership or contact information.
The full list of the affected parties was provided alongside the announcement. The review appears to target parties that have remained inactive since their establishment, with the aim of streamlining the political landscape in Guinea.
