The Haifa District Attorney’s Office (Criminal) today (Wednesday) submitted to the city’s district court an indictment against Nadal Abu Latif, a 38-year-old resident of Kfar Vardim, and Amar Dabah, a 40-year-old resident of Deir al-Assad, for attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and obstruction of justice. This, after they brutally attacked, along with three other defendants, a man in a restaurant in Kfar Yasif. This indictment joins a previous indictment filed against the other three defendants in the case.

According to the indictment, the five defendants met in a restaurant, attacked and stabbed the victim with the intention of causing his death. During the attack, the complainant tried to break free and escape, but the accused threw him to the ground and continued to beat him with vigorous and hard punches and kicks on his head and all parts of his body, as he lay on the floor, motionless and covered in blood. After that, the accused fled from the restaurant.

In the request for detention until the end of the proceedings, which was submitted at the same time, Attorney Maya Misaleh stated that “the two defendants escaped from the police for about a month and a half and did not show up for interrogation even though they knew that the police were looking for them. They cut off contact with their surroundings and left their place of residence, until they were arrested by the police late at night, when they were traveling in a car with two others in the Tamra area and when they signed a large amount of cash, personal equipment and more. The accused Abu Latif even made an inquiry about renting a yacht, a fact which strengthens the explanation that he intended to flee the country.”
According to the police, Abu Latif’s organization is the main cause of crime in the north of the country, which includes the offenses of extorting sponsorship fees, biasing tenders, arson and violence.
