According to The Sun newspaper, Great Britain is going to veto Von der Leyen’s candidacy in NATO, justifying it by the fact that in 2013-19, he was deficient in his activities as Germany’s defense minister. In addition, according to the information of the periodical, the current defense minister of Great Britain, Ben Wallace, also has ambitions to lead NATO and will nominate his candidacy.
It should also be noted that the Secretary General of NATO is appointed not by the results of the elections, but by the consensus reached among all 30 member states of the alliance.
