She had told that she is going to Allahabad with her co-actors and friends Amit Kumar Jaiswal and Preeti Surin, which is located at a distance of 1500 kilometers from Mumbai. She is sitting in Kamayani Express. But after March 15, Meenakshi did not talk to him. Apart from this, the phones of all three were also switched off.
Meenakshi’s mother received ransom message
On March 17, Meenakshi’s mother received a message from an unknown number, in which she was asked to pay Rs 15 lakh within three days. It was written that if she wanted to see her daughter safe, she would have to pay Rs 15 lakh within three days. He was also threatened that if he informed the police, an obscene video of his daughter would be uploaded on the internet and circulated in Dehradun. But the mother was not afraid of the threat and went and told everything to the police.

After this, Meenakshi’s brother and his friend Alok Verma lodged a missing complaint at Amboli Police Station in Mumbai. Friend Alok told that he had dropped Meenakshi at Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Railway Station. And there were two people with him. Let us tell you that in March 2012, Amit and Preeti had taken Meenakshi to Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of getting her work in Bhojpuri films. According to the report of ‘Indian Express’, on April 14, 2012, investigating officer Ashok Sawant received information that Amit and Preeti would go to the Axis Bank ATM near Bandra station. The police laid a trap and caught the accused. Although he had deleted all the evidence, Meenakshi’s SIM card was reportedly still with him and this helped the police trace her location. Police said that the accused had used the actress’s SIM card to send messages to Meenakshi’s mother.
Meenakshi Thapa’s body was found after a month
After his arrest, Amit had told the police that he had murdered Meenakshi after she informed the police about the kidnapping. His head and torso were thrown at different places. Police had said that on April 16, 2012, Meenakshi’s headless body was found in a septic tank near Preeti’s house in Allahabad. At the same time, after cutting off his head, he took it by bus on the way from Allahabad to Lucknow and threw it in the forest. After all the interrogation and investigation, in 2018 the court convicted both of them and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
