Alappuzha: An Irrigation Department official who was on a boat trip with his colleagues drowned in a lake. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Manaf, 42, of Kakkakuzhi, Kadakkad, Pandalam. The accident took place near Venadukadu Mathikayal in Kuttanad at 5 pm on Sunday.
While taking pictures from the front of the houseboat, Manaf hit the glove and fell into the water. The body was found by the Pulinkunnu police and the fire brigade from Alappuzha. The body is at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. Police said the houseboat was carrying a group of 90 people, including colleagues and other government officials.
