MADRID, 20 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Houthi militias published this Monday a video with images of the capture of the merchant ship ‘Galaxy Leader’, seized in the Red Sea in retaliation for the Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip.

In the video you can see how a military helicopter with the flags of Yemen and Palestine approaches the deck of the ship. Several heavily armed individuals dressed in military uniforms jump out of the device.

The assailants, at least nine, according to the images, run across the deck as the helicopter moves away and break into the ship’s bridge to subdue the crew.

Afterwards you can see a long exterior shot of the ship escorted by several boats with the Yemeni and Palestinian flags flying.

The Houthis have claimed retaliation for Israel’s “atrocious acts against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank” and have asked other countries to stay away from the area. In addition, they have threatened to attack all ships that have any type of relationship with Israel.

The ship has a Japanese owner and a Bahamian flag, but would be owned by a British company owned by British-Israeli businessman Rami Ungar.

The Israeli authorities have stressed that it is not an Israeli vessel and have called the hijacking a “serious incident with global consequences.” They have also blamed “Iranian terrorism” for what happened.
