The industry sets the opening date for the second phase of the continuous casting plant

Ahmed Hamed Zein El-Din, Director General of the General Company for Steel Industries in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, confirmed today, Monday, work on completing the requirements of the second phase of the continuous casting plant next year, related to the (rolling) factory. While he clarified regarding the company’s future projects, he confirmed that the Ministry of Industry has gone towards… Focus on strategic industries in 4 areas to meet local needs and provide hard currency.

Al-Zein told the (INA): “The production capacity of the continuous casting factory, which was recently opened by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, reaches 600 thousand tons annually, and its work includes converting piles of iron waste (scrap) into a product used in the manufacture of rebar.”
He added, “The factory will produce iron bars, which are considered a raw material. In the second stage, they will be transferred to the rolling mill and the resulting steel sheet will be reinforced. We believe that the second stage (rolling) will begin work in March of next year after completing the construction requirements.”
Regarding the future projects of the Steel Industries Company, Al-Zein explained, “There is work to complete other factories that will be announced after their completion, and in fact, partnership contracts have been resorted to to establish new factories in cooperation with reputable, highly experienced companies with high financial capabilities.”
He pointed out that “resorting to this option is due to the necessity of providing additional funds that are not available in the budgets alone to move the wheel of industry and provide job opportunities,” pointing out that “the Ministry of Industry’s current plan went towards focusing on strategic industries that include the mining, iron and petrochemical industries, as well as pharmaceuticals.” To meet local needs and provide hard currency.
