Apple Unveils iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max at Fall Event
Apple showcased its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, at its annual fall event on Tuesday. The new devices come with several significant refinements compared to their predecessors, particularly in terms of design and features.
One notable change is the use of titanium instead of stainless steel in the construction of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. As a result, these models are noticeably lighter, providing a more comfortable feel in the hand. The devices also feature slightly rounded edges and thinner bezels, which allow for a larger display area.
In terms of color options, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are available in four metallic hues: black and white titanium, blue titanium, and “natural” titanium with a gray tone. Pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999, while the Pro Max model starts at $1,199. Notably, the Pro Max variant now comes with a minimum internal storage capacity of 256GB, twice that of its predecessor.
Preorders for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will begin this Friday, with the devices set to go on sale in Apple Stores and online starting next Friday, September 22.
One notable change in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is the switch from the Lightning port to USB-C. This change allows for faster data throughput at a speed of 10GB per second and brings the Pro models in line with the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
Another new feature introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is an action button that replaces the mute switch found on previous iPhones. This button can be customized to trigger various shortcuts, such as turning on the flashlight, recording a voice memo, or opening the camera. Apple has also enhanced video capabilities on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, including vlog encoding and the ability to shoot and transfer photos in Pro Raw format at maximum sharpness. The devices can also record video in ProRes format directly to an external storage drive.
Powered by the A17 Pro Bionic processor, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max offer faster performance for gaming and augmented reality applications. Apple highlighted the gaming potential of these devices, with full console versions of popular games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 8 and 4 Remake coming to the iPhone 15 Pro in the near future.
The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will come with iOS 17, which introduces StandBy Mode, a feature that transitions the phone to a more passive mode at night. This mode is particularly useful when using the phone with a MagSafe stand, turning it into a functional and stylish alarm clock.
