/ The President of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, and his Spanish counterpart, Alejandro Blanco, signed on Thursday the activation of the joint Olympic cooperation agreement between the two committees.

The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, Haitham Abdel Hamid, said in a statement received by Agency, “Presidents Muften and Blanco agreed, with a sincere desire, to fully embody all the items of the bilateral agreement in an effective manner on the sports ground and in a way that serves the Olympic work in both friendly countries.”

Abdul Hamid pointed out that the details of the agreement included the exchange of experiences at the Olympic, administrative, technical, training and arbitration levels, and the establishment of high-level development courses in all sports disciplines, in addition to the exchange of bilateral visits and dissemination of this, in a serious and rapid manner, between the Iraqi and Spanish federations.

The activation of the joint bilateral Olympic cooperation agreement with the Spanish Olympic Committee comes within the systematic planning of the Executive Office of the Iraqi Olympic Committee and its General Secretariat, within the framework of early work to prepare Iraqi athletes for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and the endeavor to involve them in a serious competitive scene in search of the medal, and not just for the sake of participation.
