The issue of withdrawing the Russian military base from Armenia is not on the agenda. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin stated this in an interview with RIA-Novosti.

“Such signals are not known to me. I make my decision based on the official statements of the Armenian side, according to which there is no question of withdrawing the military base. No such signals were received from the Russian side either,” he said.

The strategic interests of Armenia and Russia coincide, the relations between the two countries continue to be allied, the ambassador believes. According to the ambassador, today the countries have a rather broad practical agenda of interaction, which refers to key spheres of life activity of states and people.

“I am sure that it is a solid foundation that strengthens our relationship even more. I am also convinced that our strategic interests in the main directions also objectively coincide, both ancient and modern history have shown this. That is why I think it is right that the Russian side clearly states that our relations, despite all the problems, certain misunderstandings, attempts by external players to create a breach in our relations, preserve and must preserve their alliance, strategic character. is the ambassador.

According to the diplomat, Russia expects RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to participate in the EAEU jubilee summit to be held in Moscow in May.

“Let me remind you that this year the Republic of Armenia is chairing the Eurasian Economic Council, this also implies the exchange of delegations and visits. In May, the Jubilee Summit of the Eurasian Economic Union is planned to be held in Moscow,” the diplomat noted.
