The Josep Pla Foundation of Palafrugell celebrates half a century

The Josep Pla Foundation celebrates its half century of life this Saturdaymandarin the same author launched it with the donation of his personal library and the creation of a board of trustees. That personal library was installed in the Palafrugell House of Culture, and it was not until the 90s that the foundation reached the author’s birthplace, on Carrer Nou, des d’on has become a center of reference for the study and dissemination of the figure and work of Josep Pla.

Driven later thanks to the drive of individuals and institutions, the foundation treasures a huge amount of documentation, such as the manuscripts of Destino or, since last year, the fund of Selecta, and organizes a multitude of activities inside and outside the walls of its headquarters.

To celebrate the anniversary and recognize the work of all those who have worked to move the organization forward, it has been organized for this Saturday morning a round table with Joan Badia, Josep Valls and Anna Aguiló, patrons of the foundation and witnesses of its history.

Next, the restaurant Pa i Raïm, owned by the heirs of Pla, will make a birthday vermouth. Later, the actress Mercè Martínez will read texts from Plan with the accompaniment of students from the Palafrugell School of Music and l’Energia.

The event will be closed by the director of the Institution of Catalan Letters, Izaskun Arretxe; the mayor of Palafrugell, Juli Fernández; and the president of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation and of the Provincial Council of Girona, Miquel Noguer.
