The 14th edition of the Cerdanya Film Fest, the Cerdanya Film Festival, started this Tuesday with the film Flocksfrom Vilaüt Films directed by Xavier Moreno. The screening of the film, which tells the story of a young woman who escapes to France from a Barcelona besieged by bombs, has gathered a large number of people at the Casino Ceretà in Puigcerdà. The festival will host until next August 13 the screening of up to 150 selected films from among the more than 2,000 that the organization has received.

The presentation was made by the director of the Cerdanya Film Festival, Jordi Forcada; the second deputy mayor and Councilor for Culture of Puigcerdà City Council, Jordi Palomino; the director of the inaugural film, Xavier Moreno and some representatives of the films presented at the Festival; Bertha Carreras (production of the Creation Laboratory (Lab Cerdanya): the digital artist manel cebrian; and one of the partners of the Cinema Avinguda de Puigcerdà.

The director of the Cerdanya Film Festival has highlighted that the contest “is one of the main festivals in Catalonia, a reference in the sector, especially for short films, both fiction and documentaries”. The Councilor for Culture emphasized that the festival is an example of public-private collaboration. “From the private initiative with other institutions, projects like this can emerge that have been consolidated over the years with a powerful and diverse program and with the added bonus of being a Festival that selects the Goya awards”, said Jordi Palomino. Moreno has vindicated the fact that “cinema opens up to a more artistic look, daring and experimental”.

a feminine look

The contest, which this year bet on prioritizing the feminine look, has doubled the exhibition of feature films, going from 20 last year to 40 this edition, in the categories of documentaries, fiction and animation. Throughout this edition it will be possible to see proposals for feature films present at different reference festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Toronto, San Sebastian, Málaga or Seville, as well as works that are difficult to access on the Spanish market in national or international premieres.
