The La Rioja Library no longer bears the name of Almudena Grandes. The Minister of Culture, José Luis Pérez Pastor, already announced weeks ago that he would eliminate the name of the reference library of the autonomous community and this Friday the Official Gazette of La Rioja makes it official.
“The Library of La Rioja Almudena Grandes is now called the Library of La Rioja and all the normative mentions previously made to the Library of La Rioja Almudena Grandes, are understood to have been made, from the date of entry into force of this Decree, to the Library of La Rioja”, collects the Official Gazette of La Rioja.
It was this month of August, only two months after the arrival of the current Government of La Rioja, when Pérez Pastor announced this change considering that “it was a poorly executed tribute” and justifying that “the provincial libraries have the name of the region.” However, some of these do have names, such as Asturias, Valencia or Madrid.
