Aysor.am spoke with Khoren Nasibekyan, head of legal department of “Lidian Armenia” company, regarding the actions carried out in Amulsar in recent days, the issue of resuming the activities of “Lidian Armenia”.
– Why did “Lidian Armenia” suddenly decide to start operations in Amulsar? How would you evaluate the definition of activists that the company is deliberately doing provocative actions?
– Lydian has not been able to enter the territory under its legal possession for two years. One day, the company finally had to take steps to eliminate the illegal invasion of its territory. And whenever it was done, the question of why now and why suddenly could arise immediately. A group of people rushed to the territory of the largest investor with their property, and it is a shame that for 2 years the police did nothing to eliminate the situation that is not suitable for a legal country. We were authorized by law and had to eliminate the invasion of our territory ourselves.
– But it was not disputed who owns the area where the positions of the activists were created. According to them, there is also the circumstance of your violation of the buffer zone.
– The territory is Lydian, it has been confirmed by many examinations, GPS coordinates, there is no opposition to it and there cannot be any other position expressed by any relevant body. Surprisingly, the people who have invaded the territory under the legal control of Lydian for two years still have some complaints that they don’t like the uniform or the behavior of the security service. Within Lydian territory, Lydian Guardians may perform all functions assigned to them by law, including protecting the area from intrusion, wearing uniforms with any property and insignia not prohibited by law, and other attributes permitted by law. There is no position and buffer zone here, here is the territory under the legal possession of the company and its illegal invasion and, in our deep conviction, self-righteousness.
– Should your announcement of the invitation of employees be evaluated as an intention to resume work?
– Arrogance directed at a group of people cannot be an obstacle to the legal implementation of tens of millions of investments. From the point of view of both Armenian and international law, we have the right to protect our territory from illegal encroachments, we have the right to call back our employees who have lost their source of income for a long time, ending up under loans and debts. Naturally, now these people are waiting for when they should go to work and they turn to us with that question, wondering what news, what decision there is regarding their work. Therefore, we cannot wait indefinitely, with the law and the law on our side, we can enter our premises and operate as intended, ensuring the strictest international safety and environmental regulations. And we will, of course, do just that, exercising our legal rights.
