The deal had actually already been called off. But then two of the lions changed their minds. And special education teacher Lukas Leipertz (33) was able to turn around his pitch in “The Lions’ Den” (VOX) on Monday evening.

Frozen cubes made from cold-pressed ginger juice – Leipertz actually wanted to make the lions really hot with this immune booster! His idea: Instead of having to laboriously wash the ginger bulbs, chop them up and let them steep for ten minutes, his invention “Frinsh” simply has to be poured with hot or cold water and you have a fresh ginger tea or spritzer.

So far so good, but the ginger cubes have a catch: Because Leipertz makes the cubes by hand from high-quality ingredients, the price is a whopping 25 euros for 25 cubes!

Price shock for the ginger shot – it’s far too expensive for the lions!

But the special school teacher didn’t want to give in. Leipertz: “I couldn’t always tell my students: ‘Hey, find a passion, do what you enjoy’ – and then not live it yourself!”

But can Leipertz also make a living from his invention?

If investor Nils Glagau (47) had his way, probably not. The health expert: “You are a really fine guy, absolutely authentic! But I would really recommend that you keep your job and don’t try to scale this up.”

Instead, he advised him to continue doing “Frinsh” as a hobby on the side.

Freezer specialist Tillman Schulz (34) explained: “We have been making deep freezes for 40 years. We have the know-how, we have the logistics for it. Just the pricing – you won’t survive that!”

Retail professional Ralf Dümmel (56) was convinced that something could be done about the price if “Frinsh” went into mass production, but admitted: “I can’t do frozen food with our company. That’s why I’m the wrong guy.”

Bitter for Leipertz: all investors bailed out. Deal off! No lion was keen on the ginger tea!

But then suddenly things got hectic in the lion’s den! While Leipertz was still digesting the rejections, Schulz leaned over to Dümmel and whispered: “Should we do it?” First a complete rejection, then an alliance offer!

In fact, Mr. Regal and Mr. Refrigerated Shelf were working together! And the combination has it all! However, in return for the withdrawal they demanded a full 40 percent of the company shares for 75,000 euros.

Even though Leipertz originally wanted to give up 20 percent, he was only too happy to accept this second chance.
