Divorce is the second film produced by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFTC)’s Women Directors’ Cinema project. The first look poster of the movie directed by Mini IG was released last day. Culture Minister Saji Cherian released the poster through his social media handle.
The film tells the story of six women’s lives and their survival. This movie is written and directed by Mini IG. After studying at the National School of Drama, Mini worked as an assistant to Lal Jose and P Balachandran. Divorce is also Mini’s first film venture, who was also active in theater.
Santhosh Keeshatur, P Sreekumar, Shibla Farah, Akhila Nath, Priyamvada Krishnan, Ashwati Chand Kishore, KPAC Leela, Amalendu, Chandunath, Manikuttan, Arunamshu and Ishita Sudheesh are the main characters of the movie. Divorce’s cinematography is done by Vinod Illampally, who has handled the camera for several hit films.
In 2019, KSFDC launched the project by announcing assistance to the film ventures of women directors. For this, the directors were first asked to send scripts. From more than 60 screenplays, two films, Nishidho and Divorce, were selected. KSFDC provided Rs 1.5 crore for each project.
