RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Marketa Pekarova Adamova.

The Speaker of the National Assembly presented to the Czech colleagues the existing problems regarding the Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan and the negotiation process regarding the Peace Treaty.

“Armenia’s position regarding the agenda of establishing peace in the region is clear. we must establish peaceful relations based on mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, I must record that the policy pursued by Azerbaijan has recently led to a dead end,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly and added. “In this sense, the EU’s long-term observation mission is of vital importance for Armenia in terms of security. We value the contribution of the Czech Republic in this matter.”

Marketa Pekarova Adamova highly appreciated Armenia’s efforts in establishing peace in the region and expressed confidence that the Czech Republic will try to contribute to the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty negotiations.

The parties discussed the possibilities of development of Armenian-Czech inter-parliamentary relations.

The leaders of the parliaments highlighted the necessity of continuous expansion of the agenda aimed at democratic values.
