The mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) distributed umbrellas, water bottles and food saline among the rickshaw drivers to protect them from the heat wave. Atiqul Islam
On Friday (May 3), every rickshaw puller in Uttara Sector 4 of the capital was given an umbrella, a bottle of water and 12 packets of food saline to be placed in the rickshaw.
At this time the mayor of DNCC. Atiqul Islam said, day by day the heat wave is becoming evident. Every day those who have to go outside for their livelihood, their suffering is increasing. People with limited income, especially rickshaw pullers, suffer more. Umbrellas are being provided by the city corporation so that they can at least stay under the shade of umbrellas.
There are about 35,000 rickshaws registered in North City Corporation. Mayor of Dhaka North said that umbrellas will be delivered to everyone step by step.
Md. Atiqul Islam said that the bottle of water being distributed is half a liter. It is easily portable and they can mix saline with water as needed.
