The plenary session that is going to be held today is presumed complicated for the mayor, Inés Rey. In the first place, because a joint motion is going to be presented in which the three opposition groups (PP, Marea and BNG) are going to condemn the local government for its way of approving the 2030 Agenda. to approve the modification of the PGOM, and third, because it is going to try to approve a credit modification. It is possible that this last point provokes a bitter debate and perhaps for this reason, the mayor pretended in the meeting that the spokespersons of the municipal groups agreed not to debate it, ignoring that the regulations require that all the matters that are carried out in plenary session be debated before be voted.
The reason that Rey alleged is that it is a simple modification of two grants (to the UNED and the Republican Athenaeum) that had already been approved. The only thing that is involved is to include them in this year’s budget under the appropriate headings and that is why it seemed “unnecessary” to debate it. However, neither the PP nor the BNG shared his opinion. It was not even to the liking of the spokeswoman for the Tide, María García, who made the mayor’s gesture ugly when trying to rate the interventions.

Apparently, the tone rose in the Spokespersons Commission, but in the end the local government agreed to discuss this matter as well. The problem is that the local government, which is in the minority, has not yet been able to reach an agreement to approve a true modification of this year’s budget, something that is difficult.
The document must include several issues, but one particularly thorny: that of the pending payment from the City Council to Siepse (Society of Penitentiary Infrastructures and Equipment and State Security) for the old provincial prison. The Atlantic Marea, preferred partner of the PSOE, is not very satisfied with the agreement reached. There is also the matter of the IMCE accounts or the invoices owed by the City Council to the library concessionaire, all pending issues of an agreement that is presumed difficult.
